Thanks for visiting my site. People in my family tell me I've been singing since before I could walk. Since then, I've devoted my life to the pursuit of this thing we call music: its forms, its history, composition, performance, and production. I wrote my first song at age 10, and have "played with" several instruments since about the same time. Currently, I consider myself proficient on guitar, bass, drums, and percussion; competent on trombone, harmonica, and wood flute; and I know just enough piano to be really dangerous. Although I'm the first to admit I'm not a classically trained musician, I hope you'll agree I've kept my independent study fairly well-rounded.

Although I listen to and appreciate all forms of music (jazz, classical, folk, country, blues, R&B, world/indigenous music, industrial, alternative, etc., etc., etc. ...), it doesn't take a rocket scientist to conclude that I'm a rock & roller at heart. Raised in part by my grandparents, I cut my teeth on the popular music of my parents' generation (50s & 60s rock). I also had access to my grandparents' records (30s & 40s swing, show tunes, and classic country), beginning my diverse training early. As an elementary student in the 70s, I began latching on to the popular music of the day, and kept my ears open throughout the 80s and 90s. By the time I began recording my own music in 1986, I had an overview of the best music of the bettter part of a century.

Today, I am co-owner of TRIFECTA RECORDING STUDIO in Des Moines, Iowa USA. I am lucky enough to work with some of the best musicians in the Midwest, playing styles as diverse as the music I love: country, jazz, rock, metal, classical, alternative. Not the least of these musicians is my business partner and longtime bandmate, Steve Hudspeth. Steve and I have been learning "the ropes" of recording together since 1987, and I must admit we make a very good production team.
